Ask Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson’s current business partner, and former wife. The 53-year-old is privy to the pain of a marital break.

During a chat in 2022, Garcia opened up about the biggest challenge she faced after her marriage came to a screeching halt in 2008.

Admittedly, it took her a long time to get rid of the tag. “Kudos to Joneswork [Garcia’s public relations team] over the last three years for not getting mentioned as the ex-wife. It took a long time,” the 53-year-old was quoted as saying by CNBC.

Garcia, who manages and co-owns several of The Rock’s projects, including XFL, said now that she has a platform and allies, the playing field is a lot more even compared to the past. Talking about the ‘ex-wife’ moniker, she said, “The reality is the moniker of ‘ex-wife to a celebrity’ is easy for people to understand, and it has a little salacious hook,” adding, “But you can’t identify with that.”

Apart from her own identity and as the former spouse of Johnson, Garcia also has a new moniker that hopefully she won’t oppose- a WWE superstar’s mother. For the unversed, Garcia and Johnson’s daughter, 21-year-old Simone Johnson aka Ava Raine has signed with the WWE and is currently working with the developmental NXT. The 53-year-old mother recently weighed in on one of her daughter’s WWE angles.

Raine, who is the first fourth-generation superstar in WWE, is currently engaged in a simmering feud with 31-year-old NXT star Ivy Nile. After making her NXT debut in October last year, Dwayne Johnson’s daughter was placed in The Schism stable. Earlier this month, she was attacked by Nile, while she stood at the ringside.

Hoping to pay her attacker back, Raine tried a similar sneak attack, only to be repelled by the senior wrestler. Nile not just evaded it, but managed to choke out the 21-year-old.

The humiliation was noticed by Garcia, who took to Instagram to post: “Not my baby getting choked out”.
