

The Undertaker has been one of the top WWE stars for almost the entirety of his career, spanning around 30 years. Apart from being an experienced wrestler, Mark Calaway has also shown that he is a wise person.
As he moved away from the ring after his retirement fans got to see a whole different side of The Phenom and learned a lot about him. Recently appeared in an interview with the sports journalist Ariel Helwani to talk about his current and past career.

The Undertaker and his self-respect
In the interview, Helwani invoked a question the answer to which a lot of fans wanted. When asked by the journalist whether he would like to return to the ring, Taker had a shocking response but wise response.

He doesn’t consider himself fit enough for the in-ring action anymore. Moreover, he doesn’t want to “become a parody” of himself. This could’ve been the case if the wrestler had carried on with his character forever.
“I can’t live off the equity that I’ve built for 30 years. My legacy means something to me,” said The Undertaker, concerned about how his in-ring performance would have ruined his legacy had he not decided to retire and how he doesn’t want to live off his in-ring career.
Other reasons keeping The Undertaker away from the ring
Apart from his legacy concerns, Calaway appears to be lifted by the thoughts of a few other reasons too. Firstly, even though he would love to return to the ring, his physical conditions wouldn’t allow him to perform just as well. In turn, fans will not get what they wanted to see from him, disappointing them deeply.

Secondly, Calaway has moved on from this part of his professional life and doesn’t aspire to keep fighting inside the ring. The outgrowing sounds painful to fans, but it is a part of the reality that we reside in.
Lastly, Taker doesn’t want to snatch away the spotlight from the young and aspiring wrestlers. While fans would love to see him on their TVs fighting inside the ring, Calaway doesn’t think it would be a nice idea to not give a chance to the young talent. This selfless nature possessed by the Hall of Famer will just make the fans love him even more.
