During the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney’s Jungle Cruise hit the big screens. Attempting to copy the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Disney spent $200 million on the project. Unfortunately, it only made $220 million at the box office.

Despite the massive number of duds, Johnson has been part of The Fast and The Furious franchise that has made $7.47 billion at the box office. This, along with his solo outings and the Jumanji series, has resulted in him being a bankable star despite the flops.

As a solo action star, Johnson’s Rampage made $428 million on a budget of $140 million. His outing in San Andreas made $474 million on $110 million. These established that even without an ensemble cast, he is a box office draw. According to Forbes, in 2022, Johnson was among the highest-paid actors, making $270 million.

The Hollywood star ensures to stay in the limelight and cash in on his momentum with a plethora of upcoming blockbuster movies.

Johnson’s upcoming movie projects

Set to release by the end of 2023 is Red One. This action-adventure movie stars Johnson and Chris Evans. With a star-studded cast, this movie hints at building a franchise of similar-themed Christmas movies. The movie is a modern take on the Christmas story. He is also set to feature in Red Notice 2, Fast X: Part 2, etc among his other upcoming prominent roles.
