Dwayne, ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a big name that has transcended WWE fame, becoming synonymous with his larger-than-life personality, even as a Hollywood superstar. He is always ready to share the spotlight with his colleagues and up-and-coming stars to help them out.

However, a current AEW star, Jeff Jarrett, almost found himself in a rocky situation when he considered incorporating The Rock’s name into his entrance theme, only to encounter copyright concerns.

Former WWE star turned AEW sensation Jeff Jarrett, known for his time in TNA (now Impact Wrestling), recently revealed that he contemplated featuring The Rock’s name in his AEW entrance theme lyrics. During an interview with WrestleTalk covered in Ringside News, Jarrett mentioned that he had previously used the same theme in TNA, which included The Rock’s name.

Jarrett disclosed the original lyrics in an intriguing twist: “The earth is not your place. The pale skin is on your face. If you step inside with me, you will see a king. He ain’t dead. He is Jeff.” However, the initial version had “The Rock” instead of “Jeff” – a reference to the legendary Dwayne Johnson.

The old lyrics are- ‘He ain’t dead, he ain’t The Rock’ – did you ever hear that version of it? I think that was out, and The Rock is trademarked.” So I think we went back in… that last line, we tweaked a couple of different ways.”

Unforeseen trademark and legal concerns prompted a revision in the lyrics, leading Jarrett and his team to tweak the last line, “He ain’t The Rock,” to avoid any potential copyright issues.

AEW frequently mentions WWE stars

While Jeff Jarrett opted to steer clear of using The Rock’s name, AEW often mentions WWE stars in their program. From playful jabs to direct references, AEW stars haven’t shied away from acknowledging WWE icons like Triple H, The Miz, and John Cena. AEW’s penchant for mentioning WWE stars is an ongoing trend that adds a unique flavor to their wrestling narrative.

In the end, Jarrett’s decision to avoid potential legal entanglements was a prudent move, ensuring AEW continues its unapologetic approach of referencing wrestling’s most prominent names without getting into legal trouble.
