Hulk Hogan, one of the most well-known WWE legends who is known for being the “Hero Figure” in WWE, has once again sparked his name among fans. Apart from WWE, Hogan also had a recognizable career in New Japan Pro-wrestling. Recently, another WWE legend talked about his in-ring experience with Hogan and his time in NJPW. Ric Flair is another WWE Legends and 16 times world champion. Ric and Hogan were two of the most influential WWE superstars in the 80s. A few days back in an interview, the host asked Ric Flair about his in-ring experience with Hulk Hogan, and the nature boy immediately responded by praising Hogan.
During the interview, the interviewer elaborated on how fans count Ric and Shawn Michaels among the greatest wrestlers of all time. But when it comes to Hogan, things change drastically. The host asked, “ They (fans) often take shots at Hulk Hogan and say oh he couldn’t do this he couldn’t do that. Hulk Hogan loyalists would say… Hey did you see his work in japan that dude could wrestle….it just wasn’t necessary for him to be a top card in WWF you were in the ring with him ……what was the truth? How was hulk in the ring?”

To this Ric Flair replied, “Great…. He didn’t have to do all that s**t. And Japan was a war…….Japan was a good payoff… in Japan, you were fighting every night… when he and I were going there in 80s……we owe him and Austin and guys like that I mean and Vince… I mean we owe them all on the lot.”

Hulk Hogan in NJWP
Hulk Hogan began working in NJPW in 1980. There, he was referred to as “Ichiban” which means “number one” in Japanese. He also faced Tatsumi Fujinami and Abdullah the Butcher. Hogan even won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship by beating the 9 other opponents. During his time with NJPW, Hogan stood tall among the other wrestlers. And that’s the reason Ric Flair respects him a lot.
And if we talk about WWE, then it’s no longer a secret that Hulk Hogan was one of those greatest WWE legends who highly contributed towards the betterment of the company. No matter what others say, but as Ric Flair mentioned, WWE Universe owes him a lot.
