Are Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns actually friends in real life? This is something that many fans have long wondered about. No concrete information has come to light about this topic for a long time. To satiate the hunger of the wrestling faithful, the current Undisputed WWE Champion recently discussed the topic. His answer suggests that the American Nightmare had a completely different perspective on his past WrestleMania opponent.

Cody Rhodes recently appeared on the Pivot podcast, where he discussed his relationship with the Tribal Chief. Surprisingly, he confessed that despite having so much chemistry in the ring, neither wrestler had ever had a substantial talk with each other in real life. Rhodes indicated that neither of them had a strong view of the other and that while they didn’t dislike each other, they also didn’t like one other.

The American Nightmare even discussed how both wrestlers’ families had been connected for a long time. This link between the families made it clear to both that they would have a large program with each other at some point. The former AEW star also said that when the wrestlers see each other on a poster, they use each other as a standard.

The Undisputed WWE Champion said, “I don’t know if I’ve ever dapped up with Roman. I think Roman and I are just great opponents. I don’t dislike Roman and I don’t like him. And it’s the exact same. I think he doesn’t dislike me, but I think when we see ourselves on the poster together, we get it. I’m supposed to be you, you’re supposed to be me. You’re supposed to be the benchmark.”

Nevertheless, Rhodes didn’t pour cold water on the possibility of having a friendly discussion with the former Undisputed Universal champion.

The 39-year-old superstar even claimed that he believes he would want to chat with Roman Reigns one-on-one. He wants to get down with Reigns and watch the entire WrestleMania match while discussing everything that was going on at the time. He even believes that WWE may do something similar in the future, at which point they will both have a great time. They did not even exchange words after their storied match came to an end at The Show of Shows.

A relationship like this between two wrestlers who had such a deeply personal feud with each other is unusual. Perhaps the competitive fires inside both superstars may not allow them to completely divulge details about their personal and professional lives. Although both wrestlers do not have a strong relationship with one another right now, they will most likely have a fruitful bond in the future.
