‘Don’t Think Vince Liked It’: Ric Flair Explains Why Vince McMahon Did Not Want Charlotte Flair To Perform Her Father’s Moves In A WWE Ring

When it comes to business, Vince McMahon makes sure there aren’t any mistakes made in presenting his product. Over the years, we have heard how Mr. McMahon takes serious care of small details in a gimmick or segment.

The WWE Chairman sometimes is also seen telling his superstars to stop using certain moves or some words while having a promo. Ric Flair suspected a similar situation in terms of his daughter Charlotte Flair’s in-ring work.

A few months back on Woooo0 Nation Uncensored episode 5, co-host Mark Madden and Ric Flair were discussing wrestlers who imitated ‘The Nature Boy’. Flair gave names of a few wrestlers across all the promotions.

However, about Charlotte Flair, he said, “I don’t think Vince liked it when Ashley (Charlotte) does it, because it reminds him (Vince McMahon) of me.” 

One of the major reasons Mr.McMahon didn’t want this is because of Ric Flair’s events that came up on an episode of Dark Side of the Ring. WWE had cut ties with ‘The Nature Boy’ after the episode aired, only to see him later in WWE and Peacock series, EVIL.

Ric Flair was with WWE for a long time under a non-wrestling contract. He asked for his release in August 2021 and since then we saw him in other promotions. Furthermore, Flair was also preparing for his final match, which is on July 31, 2022.

Charlotte is one of the major WWE superstars and she was having a great year as SmackDown Women’s Champion. She lost the title to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania BackLash earlier this year. This was because she needed time off to get married and heal from some injuries.

In 2007, Ric Flair had a bittersweet relationship with Vince McMahon. Flair was in the final days of his in-ring career and in WWE he was helping young talents come out on top. Sometimes, there were clashes with the boss while doing his work.

On the To Be The Man podcast, Flair shared how Mr. McMahon lashed at him for letting Victoria toss him around the ring in his mixed tag team match on RAW. Also, later, ‘The Nature Boy’ was in tears when Mr. McMahon again lashed him in his office. Flair recalled that he quit after Vince McMahon was angry with him over this match.

Mr. McMahon and Ric Flair had some heat between them, but eventually, it cooled off. ‘The Nature Boy’ returned to WWE in 2012 and was under contract as a non-wrestling superstar until 2021.
