“Drew is in No Position to Make Matches” – John Cena Shoots Down Drew McIntyre’s Call Out for a Dream Match

John Cena has been out of the ring for quite some now. His Hollywood obligations are well known throughout the wrestling world and the acting world. However, he doesn’t have a shortage of WWE wrestlers wanting to face him inside the ring. Drew McIntyre is another one on the waiting list for the same.

During an interview with “On Demand Entertainment,” the host inquired John Cena about his thoughts on Drew McIntyre wishing to fight him. With deep regret, Cena said,

“I always appreciate being involved in a conversation of saying that ‘things are important’ because that means people haven’t forgotten what you’ve put forth as an effort. But man, what a way to set yourself up for disappointment. In no way, shape or form is Drew in a position to make matches or make things happen.

“And I’m not either. Like neither of us have that power. That’s beyond — that’s beyond our capacity. So I certainly am grateful for being mentioned, which is awesome. I got more matches left in the WWE. I’m not done. But I’ve never approached anything like, ‘I’d like to work with this person or I want to have a match with this person’ because I don’t make those choices.”

John Cena is sorry to disappoint Drew McIntyre

Cena continued that he never had unrealistic expectations. Whenever WWE told him they would like him to work this match or this wrestler, he always said “all right it’s time to go to work”. Maybe, that is exactly what’s allowed him to enjoy every step of the way.

Cena thinks that if we build up expectations in our head and it doesn’t happen, we set ourselves up for disappointment.

It’s the same thing with McIntyre. If his expectations aren’t fulfilled, he will not feel good about it, and it might hamper his in-ring performance.

But the fans won’t stop. They always have high expectations from their favorite wrestlers and want them to do well. Maybe, in the future, we will get this dream match.
