Drew McIntyre Wasn’t the First Option to Defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36

Drew McIntyre dethroned Brock Lesnar from the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36. The advocate of reigning Universal Champion Roman Reigns wanted AEW star Malakai Black to face the Beast.

Brock Lesnar is a formidable foe to defeat. His inclusion in the main event for any bout makes an event exciting for the fans, with suplexes and F-5s flying over. He holds the record for the longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion with 504 days followed by Roman Reigns.

Paul Heyman wanted Aleister Black to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36, but he didn’t get his wish. During his time in WWE, Heyman noticed Aleister Black’s spark. Heyman attempted to make the match he desired but ultimately failed.

Drew McIntyre won the Royal Rumble in 2020. Later, he defeated Brock Lesnar, the three-time Universal Champion, at WrestleMania 36.

The AEW star Malakai Black is shining in AEW. After his release from WWE, he revealed that Paul Heyman fought for him to grab opportunities for him. He stated Heyman was a huge fan of him and wanted him to get a good opportunity.

Following his release from WWE, Black spoke up about Heyman’s battle for huge opportunities for him. Black praised Heyman for his efforts in assisting him and thanked him for his support. Vince had a different plan for Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponent, and it all came together just as Vince had envisioned. Later, former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre was given the opportunity.

Black revealed he had a talk with Heyman after his release. During their talk, Heyman gave him some words of wisdom for which he is still thankful. Additionally, Heyman always saw the potential wrestler in Black and wanted him to push for bigger opportunities.

Aleister Black joins AEW

WWE released Aleister Black in June 2020 and a month following his release, Black debuted on AEW with a new stage name, Malakai Black. The former NXT Champion made a huge impact in his debut.

He attacked WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson and former TNT champion Cody Rhodes and made his intentions clear with his debut in AEW.
