Dwayne Johnson has established himself as one of the action stalwarts of Hollywood. He has been part of multiple superhit franchises during his stellar career. Johnson’s role in the Fast franchise led to a spinoff in Hobbs and Shaw alongside Jason Statham and nephew Roman Reigns. However, it is impossible to ignore his illustrious wrestling career. One doesn’t have to look past his Netflix outing Red Notice to find proof of that. The movie also starred Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. The People’s Champ holds his own while starring with many celebrities in his movies. His next flick on Amazon Prime Red One consists of absolute star power with JK Simmons and Chris Evans accompanying him. The 10-time WWE champion revealed the inspiration taken from his wrestling days for a scene in Red Notice. The Brahma Bull opened up about how his iconic nickname played a huge part in coming up with an action sequence for the movie.

Dwayne Johnson describes the story behind the action sequence

Johnson was speaking to BBC One Radio during the promotion of the Netflix film. He said, “Every once in a while I’ll pull out the genius all right not me by the way no that was all Rawson (movie’s director) and I will say this, you’ve seen the movie and he loved this idea that I was in a, we were in the middle of the colosseum of a bullfight and there were shades of Gladiator and me saying are you not entertained and without giving the movie away”.

The Black Adam actor continued, “By the way you brought it up it was how Rawson pitched me he goes how you know you are iconic with a bull I would love for you to go one-on-one with a bull I said yes however I can’t win and he said absolutely you’re gonna get your a** kicked I said perfect“. The connection between the bull and The Great One is quite strong. He has donned a bull tattoo from when he was a youngster.

The People’s Champ’s merchandise has always featured the animal regularly. And fans relate heavily with the two. The scene also drew inspiration from the blockbuster 2000 movie Gladiator starring Russell Crowe. Johnson’s foray into the movie business was followed by legends John Cena and Batista to successful effect.

Movies are well known to take inspiration from multiple sources. And when you have Dwayne Johnson on board, the opportunities just keep on coming. His ever-increasing fanbase would have loved a callback to his wrestling days. And Johnson himself looked quite happy describing the scene.
