In 2022, Dwayne Johnson acted in his first-ever superhero film, Black Adam. Despite the hype that went into the lead-up to the release of the film, the movie bombed at the box office. Although Black Adam marked Dwayne Johnson’s debut in DC, it also ended up being his last film in the franchise.

However, during an interview in 2021, Dwayne Johnson proposed a crossover involving Black Adam and Deadpool, which resulted in indifferent responses from the fans.

Dwayne Johnson once said he wanted to see Black Adam make an appearance in Deadpool

While speaking with Etalk during the Red Notice promotional interview, Dwayne Johnson spitballed about a crossover idea involving Wonder Woman, Deadpool, and Black Adam. At the time, Johnson starred alongside Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds in Red Notice. While Gal Gadot is recognized for being a fixture in DC as Wonder Woman, Reynolds played Deadpool in MCU. And according to Johnson, it would be interesting to see the worlds of the superhero genre collide.

He said, “We actually talked about how cool it would be possibly to have our worlds converge between Deadpool and Wonder Woman and if there was a way to merge Black Adam, and if there was a way to merge all three of us in each other’s movies, even if it’s a cameo, which would be pretty cool,” he said.

He further fantasized about DC’s Black Adam and Wonder Woman showing up in the MCU’s Deadpool, adding that fans would be the greatest benefactors.

Nevertheless, after Black Adam flopped in theaters, Johnson exited the DC Cinematic Universe. According to reports, Dwayne Johnson wanted DC to revolve around Black Adam, which would eventually lead to his rivalry with Superman.

With a budget of $190-$260M, Black Adam managed to gross $393.3M worldwide. Despite a respectable worldwide gross, the film is said to have flopped due to its increased budget. Furthermore, Johnson was accused of wanting to control and take over DC.

Fans troll Dwayne Johnson over his crossover idea

A Marvel/DC crossover has been a hot topic of discussion among fans. Although it is unlikely to take place anytime soon, it is not a far-fetched idea. But when Dwayne Johnson pitched his idea of bringing Black Adam over to Deadpool, not everybody was pleased.

Fans took to Twitter to react to the resurfaced clip of Dwayne Johnson’s interview from 2021 where he mentioned the crossover.

While many people including The Rock find the cameo appearance compelling, other fans are not on board with the idea.

Johnson’s idea is, after all, very intriguing, even if it is not universally supported. But fans aren’t on board with it right now.
