Last week on SmackDown, WWE managed to gather icons in the wrestling ring, The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns. Little did they know that the plan would backfire despite the star power in the segment. Although fans are electrified at the return of The Rock, they are equally disappointed by Cody Rhodes’ exclusion from the main event despite winning the Royal Rumble.

However, recent reports suggest that Dwayne Johnson is behind this decision. Now, more claims have come to support the notion that Dwayne Johnson was the one pushing the idea.

Dave Scherer reports, “The point? Rock wants it and he convinced the top people at WWE/TKO that it’s should happen. It sure seems like he wants a big payday and to claim the box office as well.” The Rock, left active wrestling in 2004 and only returned briefly for a dream feud against John Cena in 2010. So, he probably wants another dream feud against his cousin Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, a battle to determine the real Tribal Chief.

Dwayne Johnson comes to the rescue of WWE in times of crisis

In one of the recent episodes of his daily radio podcast, Dave Meltzer revealed the reason behind the inclusion of Dwayne Johnson into the Cody Rhodes story. He said, “The Rock pushed super hard for it. The [#WrestleMania 40] card changed when CM Punk & Brock Lesnar were out and all the dominoes fell. Dwayne already wanted it and they [WWE] felt they now needed it as well. Felt this was better to change the news flow away from Vince.” It is also revealed that WWE wants to build Cody Rhodes as a babyface similar to Daniel Bryan from 2014. So, WWE has everything going as planned.
