Dwayne Johnson‘s XFL struggled to keep itself running after the first season. Despite a smooth launch, the minor football league was far from profit. So, The Rock made an interesting decision by merging XFL with an already-established USFL. This new league called ‘UFL’ kicked off its first season on March 30th, 2024, and is already making the headlines. Current courtesy of a partnership with the US Army.

The Rock partnered up with the US Army for an initiative that probably the entire nation would appreciate. UFL’s first partnership with the army probably may not benefit them materially but comes as a good reputation decision overall.

The purpose behind their partnership is that the football league will offer the athletes a chance to enter leadership to help out the nation and also spread awareness for the opportunities that the Army has to offer. The UFL matches will feature army logos on the jersey while also honoring veterans and current personnel. The two will further extend the partnership to include numerous collaborative events in hopes of meeting their aims.

With much planned out, the league seems to be in full swing so far. A couple of months ago, the WWE legend’s new football league even uploaded their fixtures before the first season kicked off.

Dwayne Johnson’s football league is not holding back

After many rocky beginnings, The Brahma Bull revived XFL. Although the minor league was able to launch and run the first season without any hindrance, it wasn’t a profitable business. So, after a $60 Million loss that Johnson endured, he merged his league with another football league that was struggling compared to the NFL. This XFL and USFL merger led to the rise of UFL, or United Football League.

In February, the UFL announced its first season which began in the end of March 2024. We are currently in the Week 2 of the season, that is to go on for 10 weeks in total. The UFL further partners with FOX and ESPN for broadcast in hopes of bringing spring football to the right audience. “I think it’s going to work out, we’ve got a real shot with this…” The Rock had said in an interview with ESPN and all seems to be going quite right.

Do you think the UFL will have a better chance at making a profit than XFL and USFL as independent leagues?
