“Early January”: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson vs Cody Rhodes Match Date May Be Set for Historic Raw & Not PLE

WrestleMania XL cemented its status as a resounding success in terms of sales and revenue generated. In addition, it stood out as one of the most followed events in sporting history, with fans from all over the world engaging with the event. This is due, in part, to The Rock’s presence on the show. But like all good things, this too came to an end.

Last Monday on RAW, The Rock announced his temporary departure from WWE programming. Despite the disheartening nature of his departure, he offered a silver lining by hinting at his eventual return and resuming his rivalry with Cody Rhodes. So now fans cannot wait for the return of the Brahma Bull and when will we get to see him face the American Nightmare? Well, there might finally be an update on that.

In the latest edition of the Busted Open podcast, Dave LeGraca and Co. talked about the current scenarios in the WWE as well as what the future plans might look like. And one of the most anticipated topics was the return of the Brahma Bull. And while discussing the topic, it was speculated that rather than being held in a PLE, Rhodes vs Rock might be on Netflix instead. They said that while there are several Netflix users who don’t follow RAW. And since RAW will be on Netflix soon and people recognize the Rock, they might click to watch his match. Also giving the timeline, they said, “Wouldn’t it be intriguing if the timeline all worked out? Wouldn’t it be intriguing that exactly one year later after The Rock resurfaced and after one year later after The Rock joined the TKO board? I’m talking early January. What if early January 2025? The first Monday night Raw on Netflix. We sell the house out for The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes. What a move to Netflix. What a statement that would be.”

Even the Wrestling Observer believes that the fight may take time as the WWE has some plans in store for the Great One, but no date has been scheduled yet. However, according to them, the blockbuster match could play out at WrestleMania. As for the Rock, he too would be looking forward to it. As he is already thankful for the love that he has received in this epic run.

The Rock shows his gratitude

Dwayne Johnson recently thanked fans on Instagram for following WrestleMania 40 and making it the most-watched WrestleMania ever on Peacock. The Final Boss was the protagonist of the fortieth edition of the Showcase of the Immortals, the most important WWE show of the year.

And since The Rock has decided to temporarily retire from the company’s programming, he wanted to use this moment to say goodbye to fans on social media. The Brahma Bull expressed his appreciation for the support received throughout the weekend and reviewed the achievements of WrestleMania throughout the weekend.

The Peoples Champ also provided a small hint of what his future will be. He revealed that he would be happy to step into a ring again and hopes the next opportunity arrives soon. In fact, according to him, it’s probably at the next WrestleMania. But he did reveal that the talks are in very early stages. And until then, it is a goodbye from the Brahma Bull.
