Edge Reveals He Wasn’t Comfortable in Storyline With Lita and Matt Hardy Amid Real-Life Issues

Edge was undoubtedly one of the best heels in WWE history and never backed down from a story. However, there was one time when even the “Rated-R Superstar” felt uncomfortable working a now infamous storyline.

Edge was a special guest on “The Kurt Angle Show” where they discussed everything wrestling and more. At a certain point, Edge admitted that he did not feel very comfortable with the storyline feud with Matt Hardy and Lita. He said,

“I think when everything with Matt [Hardy] and [Lita], I didn’t enjoy any of that, that was hard. It was a position that I put myself in and thought okay, I made my bed, I just got to deal with this. Then I thought okay, we’re here now, how can we pull a positive? Let’s make some money.”

“That’s what we did, this is the situation, now let’s try and get something good out of this pretty lousy scenario… The matches were [good] though because I loved working Matt.” 

For context, WWE Hall Of Famer Lita was Matt Hardy’s girlfriend in real life, and she cheated on him with Edge. WWE capitalized on the opportunity and made it into a storyline back in 2005. A lot of fans still argue that it shouldn’t have been integrated into WWE. The storyline obscured the divisions between real life and kayfabe.

Does Edge still have more left?

‘The Rated-R Superstar’ last fought with the ‘Tribal Chief‘ in a losing effort for the WWE Universal Championship. Both men had faced each other earlier this year at WrestleMania 37, but it was a triple threat match. However, their match on Money in the Bank PPV was the first time they faced each other one-on-one.

The fans loved every single bit of it and went back home highly satisfied when the one and only John Cena showed up.
