“22 years ago today we starting truly carving our path in the first tag team ladder match. 22 years later I’m about to face off with a talent who will go down as one of the best to do it. In Hell in A Cell. One helluva ride.” Edge wrote.

What happened 22 years ago?

Edge and Christian and The Hardy Boyz squared off against each other at No Mercy 1999. Edge, Christian, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy engaged in a brutal ladder match, not for the Tag team gold but instead for a $100,000 and the “services” of Terri Runnels.

This match instantly became a classic and a novelty to grab the attention of the crowd. The four young superstars delivered splendid performances with spots after spots and with literally death-defying moves.

The Hardy Boyz eventually won the ladder match after a gruesome 16 minutes match between them. This match cemented all the four athletes’ legacies in WWE and they eventually became bonafide main-eventers.

Rollins and Edge are set to face each other at Crown Jewel in a Hell in a Cell match that will possibly end their rivalry, which started after Rollins interfered in a match between Edge and Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.

Now, given the history between the two, the WWE Universe can expect this fight to be an absolute banger between the two athletes.
