WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels turned 56 on July 22. โ€˜The Heartbreak Kidโ€™ has been part of WWE programming since 1988 and continues to stay relevant to this day.

Michaels paved the way for superstars with his charisma and mic skills. His snobbish heel persona serves as a prototype for many till today including The Miz, Adam Cole, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode.

won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship once, and WWE (then WWF) title thrice.

In the upper-mid card, Michaels won the Intercontinental Champions three times, the now-defunct European Championship. He is also a six-time Tag Team Champion, having won it with Triple H, Diesel, Stone Cold Steve Austin and, John Cena.

Apart from this, Michaels has headlined WrestleMania five times and delivered multiple well-acclaimed matches. This earned him the nickname of โ€˜Mr. WrestleMania.โ€™

He is also a two-time Royal Rumble winner, and the first man to win the match as the number one entrant. Michaelsโ€™ accolades made him the first-ever WWE Grand Slam Champion and the fourth WWE Triple Crown Champion.

Michaels also has the rare achievement of being a two-time WWE Hall of Fame inductee. He was inducted in 2011 as a singles wrestler, and again in 2019 as part of D-Generation X.

Apart from the WWE accolades, fans and critics both regularly consider Michaelsโ€™ matches as some of the best in WWE history. Michaels won 15 Match of the Year awards between Pro Wrestling Illustrated and Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Not to mention, his rivalry with Bret Hart is considered one of the best in WWE history.

What is Shawn Michaels up to now?

โ€˜The Showstopperโ€™ retired from pro-wrestling in another highly acclaimed match against The Undertaker in WrestleMania XXVI in 2010. Since then, Michaels has resumed several roles including a trainer and guest referee.

He made a one-time return to the ring alongside Triple H to face The Brothers of Destruction at WWE Crown Jewel in 2018. However, the match was poorly received by both fans and critics.

Since then, Michaels slipped back into his retirement and started working as a writer and producer of NXT, alongside Degeneration-X members Triple H and Road Dogg.
