Injuries are unavoidable when you take bumps for a living. Although superstars are sometimes able to shake it off and finish the match, there are times when the referee throws the ‘X’ sign in the air. That said, WWE star Bayley suffered a grave knee injury mid-match during a WWE live event in Maryland.

The leader of the Damage CTRL was part of a championship match against Asuka and Charlotte Flair. However, things didn’t quite go as planned for her.

During the match, Bayley charged at Asuka from one corner of the ring. In doing so, the former Women’s Champion severely injured her right knee, as she immediately fell, grabbing and favoring her knee. This prompted the referee, Jessika Carr, to make an ‘X’ sign, indicating that Bayley could not continue the match.

In addition, Charlotte Flair broke character and checked on her friend before getting back in the match. As the referee made sure the injured star got the attention she needed, Asuka and Flair continued the match.

PWInsider later reported that the incident was not a planned spot. As previously stated, Bayley was assisted backstage by officials to receive immediate treatment. While her fans were worried about her condition, the Hugger took to social media to provide a relieving update on her injury.

She wrote, “I’ll be alright, thanks everyone.” In the picture, Bayley appears to be icing her injured knee. Although the 34-year-old star is a heel, she is one of the fan favorites in the women’s division.
