This week’s WWE Monday Night RAW episode saw a major backstage incident of Sasha Banks and Naomi walking away midway through the show. Banks and Naomi took this move as WWE frustrated them by the booking of their tag team storylines.

After the news broke, WWE issued a statement regarding the walking away of Sasha Banks and Naomi. The tweet said, “Official WWE statement on Sasha Banks & Naomi.”

A good deal of ex-WWE superstars and other company wrestlers praised the Women’s Tag Team Champions for this ‘Boss’ move.

Former WWE United States Champion Zack Ryder aka Matt Cardona spoke his mind regarding the Sasha Banks and Naomi walking away. He referred to one of the segments with Kane from 2012, which turned him into a lower-card WWE superstar.

He shared on his Twitter saying, “If I could go back in time…the night I was pushed off the stage in a wheelchair on Raw, I should have walked into Johnny Ace’s office…placed my neck brace on the table and walked out because I wasn’t being respected enough as Internet Champion.”

Matt Cardona became famous out of nowhere in 2012 using the power of the internet. He also announced himself as the Internet Champion with a custom-made belt. There was a segment of The Rock and fans were chanting Zack Ryder all along. This is how much popular he became.

In 2012, while a returning masked Kane and John Cena were having a feud, Cardona was a part of it. Cardona was Cena’s friend in the storyline and, for taking his revenge on Cena, Kane pushed The Broski through the ramp while he was injured and sitting in a wheelchair.

WWE released Matt Cardona in 2020 as a part of budget cuts. Since then, he has always claimed to talk with the officials about the Kane segment. He thinks that one push from Kane was the end to the start of his illustrious WWE career.

Original plans for Banks and Naomi on RAW

Sasha Banks and Naomi were scheduled to be a part of a six-pack challenge match, which included Becky Lynch, Asuka, Nikki A.S.H., and Doudrop. However, because of the walking away between Banks and Naomi, the match became a singles match between Lynch and Asuka, which The Empress won.

However, WWE did not originally plan for Asuka to win tonight. WWE may have plans for Lynch and Asuka to feud for a while. According to Fightful.com, Naomi was originally scheduled to win. They planned for Naomi to win and face Belair at Hell in a Cell for the RAW Women’s title.
