If Stone Cold Steve Austin mentions a name on a podcast or during an interview, there’s bound to be a ripple effect. Now, the ripple effect depends on what he actually said. In this regard, WWE Superstar Kevin Owens won the lottery!
It so happens that three months before his WWE tryout, Owens was a guest on Stone Cold’s podcast. Towards the end, The Stone Cold hinted that the sports entertainment giant should definitely consider Owens.

KO spoke about how it went down during his session with Austin which ultimately led to his WWE tryout while speaking on After The Bell.
“I emailed him, told him the story, thanked him. Sure enough, three days later, I’m doing the podcast with him. That was a huge deal at the time when he announced Kevin Steen’s gonna be on my podcast. People came out of the woodwork, telling me this is unbelievable. At the end of that podcast, he goes, I think WWE should take a look into this kid.” H/t After The Bell
Now, KO believes that considering he was the top indy guy when he emailed Stone Cold, WWE would have eventually called him for a tryout. However, The Texas Rattlesnake mentioning him during the podcast accelerated the process.
