

WWE Royal Rumble 2022 saw Brock Lesnar come in and clean house for his second Rumble win. Although he was happy, some other superstars were disappointed. One of them was Shelton Benjamin.
The former WWE United States Champion expressed his disappointment at not being a part of the Royal Rumble match. After the event, he posted a picture on Instagram about the same.

At the Royal Rumble event, WrestlingInc’s Nick Hausman caught the former Team Angle member and asked him about facing his old teammate and OVW tag team partner, Brock Lesnar.
Shelton Benjamin admitted that he wanted a match with Brock Lesnar. He said, “Of course, I want a shot, absolutely. But I think for me, it is a little different because I have a very long history with Brock that precedes WWE. So, I know what I can do against him.”
The former Hurt Business member also spoke about WWE signing superstars with more of an athletic background rather than an independent background.

“I mean, I think me and Brock, and Gable, and Bobby, we are all a testament to that kind of thinking. If you bring athletes, you’re going to get great talent, great matches, great performances. I kind of have mixed feelings on only focusing on that.”

Shelton Benjamin wants to win the WWE Championship
Shelton Benjamin, who is still far from retiring, spoke about his future goals in the WWE. The former US champion wants to help nurture the young talents in the WWE, but he wants to carry the top-tier gold over his shoulders before that.
He said, “Honestly, I want a WWE Championship. NXT is great, and if given the opportunity, of course, I would go down there.”

If creative decides to take this route, he will have to cross paths with his old Hurt Business mate, or Brock Lesnar. The latter would be extremely interesting.
