Former WWE Universal Champion Finally Gets His 7-Year-Long Revenge on Seth Rollins, Fans Shower Praise: “Better Late Than Never”, “Sweet Vengeance”

This week’s WWE Raw brought itself some recreation of historic moments from its past. On the main event of the night, fans witnessed Seth Rollins facing the first ever WWE Universal Champion, whom he severely injured seven years back. However, karma hit The Architect back as the latter finally took his revenge.

On the May 8 episode of Monday Night Raw, Rollins won the right to battle for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE Night of Champions by pulling back Finn Balor from the race. But more than this, fans got thrilled seeing something else. During this intense main event, fans witnessed a call back to the duos match for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2016. 

Finn Balor finally took his revenge on Seth Rollins for what happened on the SummerSlam 2016

Some years ago, in 2016, Balor and Rollins battled against each other for the first-ever Universal Championship. During that match, The Architect delivered a running powerbomb to the Judgement Day member on the barricade. And this resulted in Balor receiving a severe shoulder injury. However, that day, even though the Irish young gun won the match, he had to relinquish the title the very next night.

Now, fast forward to 2023, after seven long years, no one could stop Balor from taking his revenge. On this week’s Raw, he made sure to deliver the same powerbomb on Rollins while throwing him to the barricades. However, this move didn’t win him the fight, but surely let him take his revenge. 

Even though Balor is not new to serious injuries, after witnessing this ‘history repeating itself’ moment, fans couldn’t resist but react to it.

As soon as the WWE Universe got to see Balor taking his 7-year-long revenge, they were pumped up. The sight of it took the fans seven years back when The Demon King’s shoulder popped out due to his collision with the barricade, courtesy of The Visionary. 

Some fans cheered for Balor as he finally got to take his revenge on Seth Rollins. 

A fan even appreciated the long-term storytelling of WWE. 

All in all, seeing how fans reacted to this payback of Balor on the internet, it is evident that they loved this segment from Raw. However, in the closing moments of this fight, The Visionary hit his opponent with an inverted stomp, followed by a curb stomp for the win.

Now, it remains to be seen who eventually names the World Heavyweight Title as the tournament will continue this Friday on SmackDown.
