The biggest news from last week’s SmackDown was that Charlotte Flair will be out of action for 9 months. This update came in after The Queen of WWE suffered an injury while squaring off with Asuka. Following that, news emerged that the injuries she incurred were grave and taking time off was the solution. One fact that cannot be ignored is that her absence does create a void as she has been a prominent star at the company. Speaking of Flair’s injuries and the void she has left, former WWE Women’s champion, Bianca Belair believes that it might be a blessing in disguise, but not for Flair.

Is Charlotte Flair’s spot in danger?

Bianca Belair was present as the guest on the latest episode of ROAR Around The Ring. The host of the show brought up the question of what is going on concerning the ‘Next Person Up Mentality’ in SmackDown’s Women’s locker room. The ‘next person-up mentality’ commonly refers to the phenomenon when other players try to take the spotlight after a prominent star takes a break. Speaking of Flair’s injuries and what might happen next, she said, “It is a huge blow. Charlotte Flair has been such a vital part of our women’s roster.” Belair further added that it is sad that Flair could not compete now, but it does open up a lot of opportunities.

She said, “But you know it does open up an opportunity for someone else, and that’s just the way this business is. I always say you gotta stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. You never know when your opportunity’s gonna come, whether it’s your time, whether it’s another spot that opens up.”

An important fact that she reminded everyone of was that everyone was fighting for a spot at WrestleMania.“We’re all fighting for a spot at WrestleMania. So I’m even looking… for my path to WrestleMania.” She concluded by saying no matter how sad the reality is people are going to go after the spot.

While Flair is out because of injury, it would be interesting to see how the storyline changes. Apart from that, she won’t be participating in the upcoming Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40. Now this will leave fans with many questions on how things might change for Flair following her treatment. Who do you think might take up Charlotte Flair’s spot in her absence?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
