Speaking about FOX’s current relationship with the pro wrestling company, FOX CEO said that the management of WWE has been a “great partner throughout the relationship.” And “if they ultimately sell the business,” he hopes “the acquirer will be as great as” the current ones.
Murdoch also praised the current leading members of the company by saying that “they’ve done a tremendous job.”
While speaking on the topic of TV media rights, he informed the world that though they are ready, there has still not been any engagement regarding this matter. But he said, “We’re ready to engage with them when they ask and they’re ready. Ultimately, our appetite for renewal depends on what happens with the rest of our sports portfolio.”
In 2018, WWE struck a billion-dollar deal with FOX for its weekly Friday show SmackDown. It was a five-year deal that will end in 2024.
