Royal Rumble 2021 is coming up and the WWE audience is already wondering if there will be any surprise returns this year. While the company will not reveal this information until the moment arrives, it’s a good time to remember some of the greatest returns in the event’s history.

WWE compiled a video of the top ten Royal Rumble returns. Watching the Superstars enter to their theme songs sent the crowds roaring throughout the arena.

Jeff Barrett returned at Royal Rumble 2019, interrupting Elias’ segment. The announcers, the crowd, and everyone else cheered on as The Hall of Famer made his way to the ring.

Mighty Molly returned at Royal Rumble 2020 when she entered the Women’s match as number three, while Alexa Bliss and Bianca Belair were taking a breather.

Bubba Ray Dudley returned at Royal Rumble 2015 just as the clock struck zero. That was the first time in a decade that Dudley returned.

Naomi returned at Royal Rumble 2020 as number 18. The crowd was ecstatic to see her return with “the glow”.

Big Daddy Cool Diesel returned at WWE Royal Rumble 2011. It’s safe to say that the audience went berserk and jumped up and down watching the 6 ft. Superstar walking down the ramp.

The top 5 returns

Rey Mysterio returned at Royal Rumble 2018 and ran down the ramp to the ring to make a stunning appearance.

Trish Stratus returned at Royal Rumble 2018. The announcers claimed that she was “perhaps the greatest WWE Women’s Champion of all time”.

Triple H made his return at Royal Rumble 2016 as Roman Reigns walked up and down the ring. This is the moment everyone knew things were about to go up a level.

John Cena returned at Royal Rumble 2008 as number thirty. There wasn’t one person in the audience who did not recognize the music. Triple H stood with a shocked expression on his face.

Edge returned at Royal Rumble 2020, making it one of the greatest moments in the event’s history. Fireworks went up as he posed on the ramp.

WWE Royal Rumble 2021 Match Card

WWE has announced some matches for the upcoming event. The company might announce other matches soon.

Royal Rumble Men’s Match

As of now, the Superstars who will take part in the 30-man match are Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Otis, and Bobby Lashley. The company is yet to announce the names of the 25 Superstars who will join the others in the battle.

Royal Rumble Women’s Match

The Superstars announced are Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, Mandy Rose, and Dana Brooke. It is expected that the company will announce the rest of the names in the coming week.

Universal Championship

WWE Official Adam Pearce will face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. It was ‘The Tribal Chief’ who ensured that Pearce won The Gauntlet Match to become the challenger by attacking Shinsuke Nakamura with help from Jey Uso.

Reigns did not appreciate Pearce booking Kevin Owens as the previous challenger. Therefore, he might seek revenge on Pearce, but assaulting an official usually results in suspension. However, attacking Pearce inside the ring during a match is completely within the rules.

WWE Championship

Goldberg returned at WWE Legends Night to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship. According to Goldberg, ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ does not respect legends, and he wants to teach him a lesson.

McIntyre accepted the challenge because he believes Goldberg needs to learn his place and not become aggressive without reason.

Some Superstars who are predicted to return for Royal Rumble 2021 are Samoa Joe, Seth Rollins, and The Fiend.

It is possible that part-timers such as Big Show and Kane might return.
