WWE Legend’s Night ended with a bang as we saw a true icon of the business return. Former WWE Universal Champion and Hall of Famer Goldberg returned on WWE RAW.

The last time Goldberg was seen in WWE was at WrestleMania 36 where he lost the WWE Universal Championship to Braun Strowman. This time, the legend has another title in his sights.

Drew McIntyre defended his WWE Championship on the first RAW of 2021. His opponent was none other than the ‘Limitless’ Keith Lee.

The former NXT Champion took McIntyre to the limit and almost put McIntyre away on many occasions. Lee even busted out a Spanish Fly, but it lacked the impact of Drew’s match winning Claymore Kick.

After the match ended, Goldberg’s music hit and the legends on the stage parted to make way for him. He walked into the ring and went face to face with McIntyre.

Had there been a crowd in the Thunderdome, they would’ve probably lost their collective minds. The intense staring contest between the two ended, and Goldberg said some harsh words to the WWE Champion.

Goldberg called McIntyre a great representative but did not think he had the respect to be WWE Champion. He accused McIntyre of thinking that the legends are washed up, but he could not be more wrong. And without any hesitation, Goldberg announced his intention to face Drew for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

McIntyre had one line to retort to the Icon, but that probably stung him way harder than he expected. “Fighting you would be like fighting my own Dad”.

This drew a chuckle from the legend who then shoved Drew down. As soon as the altercation took place, the closing graphic appeared and the live feed cut.

Why is Drew McIntyre his opponent and not Roman Reigns?

Goldberg was touted as a potential WrestleMania opponent for Roman Reigns. The two masters of the Spear were scheduled to face at WrestleMania 36, but Reigns had to be taken off the card due to his risk of getting COVID-19. Braun Strowman replaced him and beat Goldberg with ease to win the WWE Universal Championship.

It made sense for Roman and Goldberg to go head-to-head, but McIntyre also makes a wonderful opponent for the legend. Here’s hoping WWE do not pull another Fiend type situation and put the belt on a 54-year-old man. Drew deserves to walk into WrestleMania as the champion.
