The revamped version of XFL started operations last month. The Dwayne Johnson co-owned football league aspires to be an alternative to the NFL.

And the starting signs are good with Johnson recently sharing impressive viewership numbers. However, the competition has been dealt a tragic blow within weeks of its introduction.

Johnson shared the news of the untimely passing of Ben Seigfried. He was a member of the backroom staff and was associated with St. Louis BattleHawks and DC Defenders. The People’s Champ wrote on his Twitter, “So so sorry to hear this devastating news come in earlier today.
