“Got Offered a Three-Year Contract”: Former Female Wrestler Reveals Why She Was Perfect for WWE Despite Not Being the “Best Wrestler”

In 2003, WWE started the Divas search competition for potentially hiring female superstars aka divas in the company. The first season was won by Jaime Koeppe. However, unlike the other winners of the future seasons, she didn’t contract with the company.

In the following year, Christy Hemme won the 2004 season. However, she failed to make an impact on the roster. Instead, another participant by the name of Candice Michelle was able to create a significant impact on the roster, despite not winning.

Speaking to WrestlingInc, Michelle revealed why, despite not winning the competition, she was hired by the company, and why she feels she was the perfect fit for her role in the company. She would speak about her time at the competition, and what helped her make her name in WWE.

What did Candice Michelle reveal about being the best fit for her role in WWE?

The 44-year-old female wrestler is best known for her time in WWE. During her stint with WWE, she won the women’s championship and also had several memorable moments. However, Michelle always fell victim to the criticism of not being one of the best in-ring talents.

Speaking during the interview, she revealed, “When I got that call a month later, got offered a three-year contract.” She would further reveal that although she was not fit for the Divas search, she was perfect for her job in WWE.

Further, Michelle claimed, “People can look at my matches and say, ‘She wasn’t the best wrestler. She wasn’t the best this,’ but one of the things I was the best at, I was the best at taking the heat.” During her time in WWE, Michelle would be a part of Vince’s Devils, a female stable. Later, she would go on to win the Women’s Championship. However, a few years later, WWE would release her.

Michelle is also the second woman to win the 24/7 Championship. However, ever since her release, she would sporadic appearances for the company for special events. The 44-year-old is now retired and hardly wrestles anymore.
