Blessed with the gift of the gab, Dwayne Johnson is one of the wittiest actors in Hollywood. Ever since his pro wrestling days, The Rock was a crowd favorite for his ability to catch opponents off guard with sharp comebacks. But at times, he has been on the receiving end as well, both in the WWE and Hollywood. One such event took place earlier this year, where British actress Emily Blunt surprised Johnson with a clever retort, checking in on his lies on live TV.

Johnson and Blunt are very close friends, but that didn’t stop the Oppenheimer actress from showing her sassy side.

When reporters failed to save Dwayne Johnson the blushes

The event we are talking about took place at the Oscars this year. Both Johnson and Blunt attended the award ceremony at the Dolby Theatre on March 12. While talking backstage with reporters from Entertainment Tonight, Johnson and the scribes came across Blunt and asked her to join them.

Johnson asked Blunt to name the “most talented, most brilliant actor” she has ever worked with. He also stated that he named her as his choice and when the confession was met with the doubtful gaze of Blunt’s eyes, he had the reporters corroborate his claim. One of the reporters looked at the camera and winked, exposing the bluff.

What followed next wasn’t something The Great One was prepared for, by his reaction at least. Blunt actress asked Johnson, “Have you worked with any other actresses?”

While he looked a little shocked by that response, Johnson was quick to reply, “Not that I care about.” That aside, The Brahma Bull and the 40-year-old actress have acted in just one movie together- Jungle Cruise, but share a great camaraderie.

And Johnson is not always at the receiving end. During the promotion of the movie, he once mercilessly trolled his co-star.

As with some of his closest Hollywood friends, Johnson is constantly joking with them. Yes, he is also the subject of some of the jokes, especially by Kevin Hart, who gives back as much as he gets. But there was a joke that left Blunt embarrassed in front of a reporter after Johnson cracked it.

The Brahman Bull and Blunt were promoting their movie a few years ago when a reporter asked them if they had any trouble sitting close together. Usually kind, Johnson unleashed his cheeky side and casually exposed his co-star for not using deodorant.

As a baffled Blunt looked at Johnson, trying to counter his point by raising her arms, Johnson said, “arms down”. The segment ended on a sweet note after the wrestler-turned-actor admitted it was a joke.

In a separate segment, Blunt joked that she had to get drunk in order to film an intimate scene with the beefy star, as everyone had a good laugh at Johnson’s expense. Clearly, there’s no dearth of jokes with Johnson and his friends around and it’s refreshing to see such big stars having a good laugh and baring their humane side for others to see.
