CM Punk’s firing from AEW after backstage drama at All In was one of the biggest highlights before AEW All Out. The exit, however, led to speculation that WWE might re-consider signing controversial star CM Punk after his sour exit in 2014.

There is a huge financial opportunity for WWE to cash in considering Punk’s heat in the market, but the past between the two deters any such possibility. An ex-WWE superstar has listed out eight reasons as to why there would be no deal between Punk and WWE.

Granted, there were only seven, since Ryback felt the need to emphasize that no one likes Punk. In the video, he said, “This is why CM Punk is not going back to WWE. Number one, nobody likes him, from all the boys in the locker room to the office personnel, absolutely despised. Number two, he’s a pathological liar. I’ve seen it time and time again and this is coming out more and more and more, and finally everyone is starting to see it.”

While shocking, the retired wrestler did not stop at just that, proceeding to mock Punk’s stature and the hype surrounding him. “Number three, he’s not the draw that everybody wants to try to say that he is. He never was and he never will be. Sure, he can get a spike here and there, but long term, he is incapable of improving ratings. Number four, he’s fragile. He’s just not it. Number five, his ego is out of control. He will not come back and fall in line and become a spoke in the wheel of what is WWE. Number six, did I mention nobody likes him?” he said.

He then went on to blast Punk for his body size and Punk’s miserable performance at UFC. “Number seven, he’s partially responsible for the downfall of the wrestling ratings. Casual people look at Phillip Brooks and they just go ‘that’s not that, that’s not it’. And number eight, he failed horribly at UFC,” he said.

Ryback feels Punk’s failure at UFC does not make him a credible pro-wrestling star. He was even critical of Punk’s ego issues that led to his exit from AEW.

Tony Khan, was able to pull off the impossible when he managed to sign on the self-proclaimed Best in the World pro-wrestler after an eight-year hiatus. But much of what Ryback says seems to be true, while others are yet to be verified. Several backstage dramas unfolded within the short period Punk was with AEW. The list of AEW stars that had beef with Punk includes Adam Page, Jon Moxley, William Regal, The Young Bucks, and Jack Perry.

Eventually, it was the backstage fight with Perry that led to Punk’s exit and disappointment for Punk’s fans. While it’s unknown whether Punk really was a pathological liar or if he treated backstage personnel poorly, it is certain that he wasn’t an angel outside the ring.
