“He Just Attached to Me”: Newest AEW Wrestler Reveals How His Idol WWE Legend Edge Became His Great Friend

Edge is one of the greatest performers in WWE history. The Rated ‘R’ Superstar is an eleven-time World Champion in WWE and has accomplished everything there is in the business. Moreover, he is a prestigious Grand Slam Champion in WWE and has won the Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble matches as well. He has headlined WrestleMania multiple times and looks better than ever in his second run in WWE.

Edge came out of retirement in 2020 after making one of the most shocking returns to WWE. The Ultimate Opportunist had retired in 2011 after dealing with a gruesome injury for years. Since his return, Edge has given stellar matches and has not lost a step.

He has inspired many WWE fans and Superstars with his grit and determination. One former WWE Superstar who is very close to Edge is Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott.

Isaiah recently appeared on the YouTube channel “MuscleManMalcolm” and talked about his relationship with the WWE Hall of Famer. Isaiah said that he got introduced to Edge through Beth Phoenix, who is Edge’s wife. Beth was doing commentary on 205 Live, where Scott was performing. Isaiah said.

“Edge is one of my good friends now. I grew up watching him,” Scott added, “He watched me and Drew Gulak from 205 Live because Beth was commentating, she told him like, ‘Hey, watch this match. You need to watch this match.’ He like, just absorbed it. He’s like, ‘Oh my god, this is what I love.’ It was everything that he loved about wrestling. So he just attached to me and we’ve been talking on the phone for like, 30 minutes.” 

Scott added that he got inspired by watching Edge’s match against Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell.

“We kind of mirror each other in a lot of ways, the taller, lankier guys. So we move a different way. That is one of my idols. One of my great friends.”

Isaiah is a former NXT North American Champion. However, WWE released him in 2021.

Edge and his current run in WWE

Edge had achieved a lot in his career, even before his retirement. He had already had a Hall of Fame career, but his latest run is simply about Edge’s love for WWE. Edge grew up a fan of WWE and it is all he has ever wanted to do.

The Rated ‘R’ Superstar has become part of the biggest feuds since his return and seems to be having a great time doing what he does best. His fans are static every time he comes on TV and cannot wait to see what Edge does next.
