A big part of being a pro wrestler is also knowing how to act well. Having made his wrestling debut in 1996, Dwayne Johnson already had plenty of acting experience by the time he was offered a role in The Mummy Returns, which was released in 2001. But when he switched back to being a wrestler again after experiencing Hollywood, it wasn’t the same for him.

In an interview in March 2004, “The Rock” was asked about the ch.3anges that he has observed in himself after working in the American film industry. He then revealed what exactly Hollywood had changed for him the next time he entered the ring.

Hollywood altered Dwayne Johnson’s way of selling his act

While working in the film industry, Johnson learned how to be more subtle with whatever emotion he was trying to portray. Even though he used to do this before as well, DJ admitted in the interview that at times he used to go “over the top“. But this changed when he grabbed the opportunity to work with other professional actors.

In an interview with blackflim.com The Rock said, “Completely, sure, yeah. The great thing is it’s like you go and there are times when I would really be over the top in wrestling,” said the WWE legend while answering the interviewer. He further added, “Now I try and be a little bit more subtle because a lot of times you play 360 degrees, you could be a little bit more subtle and get your point across more.” This was the time when “The Brahma Bull” starred in the Walking Tall movie.

There might have been more changes than he listed during the conversation. However, Johnson’s confession tells us that he observed this change for the better and wanted to improve both as a wrestler and an actor.

Fans should also note that Hollywood isn’t the only thing that influenced Johnson’s life. Being exposed to the world of wrestling since childhood affected the WWE legend’s life greatly as well.

Wrestling ruined a car for Dwayne Johnson by the time he bought it

During the 80s, Cadillac and Lincoln were two car brands that were considered a pre-requisite for every pro wrestler. Since Rocky Johnson also had a Cadillac, his son also wanted to buy one for himself when he was old enough. Unfortunately, when the time finally arrived and Johnson bought himself a “Caddy“, he didn’t like it as much.

In a recent podcast episode on The Joe Rogan Experience, “The Rock” revealed that seeing wrestlers with Cadillacs ever since his childhood was such a stereotype that he didn’t want to fit into the ‘gimmick’.
