This fan says it isn’t the fault of Johnson.
She was offered and rejected it because she felt that she wasn't appropriate for the role. She wants appropriate representation.
Hardly a fault of Dwayne Johnson.
Also, I disagree with her, but support her decision. It was kind and thoughtful.

The rock didn’t want to get too old and have to watch someone else play maui later on when Disney decided to do a live action so he most def pushed for this to be made.

The Rock has not confirmed whether he will come back or not. However, with the success of the animated film, DJ would surely consider a live-action comeback to become Maui this time. Moreover, he made a whopping $20 million in 2016 for voicing the character. Therefore, for a live-action movie, he would likely bag a big amount.

The movie made $643 million worldwide with DJ voicing Maui and Cravalho in the titular role of Moana. Fans would love to see Cravalho in the role, but if she isn’t coming back, everyone will be keen to see who will the studio select to play Moana.
Auli’i Cravalho’s message on Instagram
