The world of WWE is built upon the dynamic use of multi-talented wrestlers acting out in elaborate storylines. Despite the high action-packed performances, and wrestlers running real risks of injury in front of a live crowd, it isn’t actual wrestling. However, Brock Lesnar is one of the few individuals who have been to both the reel and the real realm of wrestling.

The massive and muscular body of Lesnar isn’t just for show. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently revealed that he once fought a real wrestling match with the Beast Incarnate. Angle said that he didn’t expect to be fighting someone so strong. In fact, Kurt Angle said that Lesnar easily possesses the potential for the Olympics.

Brock Lesnar holds the title of the youngest-ever WWE Champion. The Beast Incarnate is one of the few standalone wrestlers who never need a pack or a sidekick. Lesnar has always achieved things via brute force and by dispatching his opponents to the suplex city. In fact, Lesnar is also the wrestler who shattered The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak.

That said, for years there has been a popular story in WWE circles that Kurt Angle and Lesnar once decided to compete in a real wrestling match backstage where Angle won with ease. However, that isn’t the complete story.

Speaking about Lesnar at The Joe Rogan Experience, Angle said, “The kid is unbelievable for his size. He is 300 pounds. He is the best athlete I have ever been to ring with. I mean, he is explosive, he is quick, he is fast, he’s strong as hell.” The Hall of Famer also recalled his experience of actually wrestling Brock Lesnar.

Describing their fight, Angle said, “So we went and we went for about 15 minutes and the wrestlers tell you that I’d kicked his a**. I dominated him, but that’s not true. I beat him but I didn’t beat him. I took him down twice and he didn’t take me down at all. I mean it wasn’t like a dominating performance.”

He further said, “He’s the real deal. You know, I’m surprised he didn’t train for the Olympics.” While Angle and Lesnar had an almost equal matchup, Angle recalled that Lesnar was completely dominant against the Big Show in a similar contest.

Brock Lesnar makes quick work of the Big Show

Lesnar had initially denied Angle’s request for a wrestling match because he was in his sandals. Kurt Angle suggested that both of them could fight barefoot, but Lesnar said no. A week later though, Angle found Brock Lesnar in the ring with the Big Show.

“They were wrestling for real and Big Show was about 530 pounds at that time. Brock was double wagging him up and picking him up and slamming him up and I’m like holy s**t!” mentioned Angle.

Kurt Angle really wondered if he would be able to take Brock Lesnar on in an actual match. The two stars had memorable matches during Lesnar’s first run with the company and were good friends. Angle’s revelations about Lesnar’s ability on the JRE further add to the mystique of their special bond.
