Cody Rhodes finished his story at WrestleMania XL and sent his arc-nemesis home. However, on SmackDown 04/12, we saw new trouble arriving in WWE that Rhodes may have to face soon. The Bloodline introduced a new member to the blue brand crowd when they saw Tama Tonga in the promotion for the first time. This may complicate the WWE Universal champion’s relationship with The Bloodline.

The heel stable’s new member has crossed paths with Rhodes before. While the two stars may not share a familial relationship, they previously worked together in a different landscape other than the WWE.

Even though the Undisputed Championship now belongs to The American Nightmare, the promos on SmackDown after WrestleMania tell us that his story with The Bloodline may not be over yet. During one of the promos, we saw Tonga officially signing with the Roman Reigns‘ faction. This foreshadowed a potential complication that we may see between Cody Rhodes and Tonga because of their past. The two former NJPW stars were once members of the popular Bullet Club. While Tama Tonga was one of the founding members of the team, Cody Rhodes joined it later on. However, they are still former teammates by relation.

So, even though he is a relative of The Rock, Tonga may stand by his former teammate if they cross paths again. However, while we are still waiting to let things take their course, WWE may be planning the first rivalry for Tama Tonga. Haku’s son’s first rivalry may be a solo adventure, following the acknowledgment that one of the top stars of the Stamford-based company issued before his arrival.

Tama Tonga may not have to face off against Cody Rhodes anytime soon

When King Tonga’s contract with NJPW ended, there were already several rumors surrounding his potential WWE debut. Much to the wrestling fans’ anticipation, this ended up happening. During the same period when rumors of his debut were flying around, AJ Styles was asked to talk about the same thing. Having worked as a former Bullet Club member himself, Styles was excited about this rumor. Consequently, he acknowledged Tonga’s potential presence in his workplace if the latter eventually finds himself in WWE. He wanted Tonga to take his chance. This friends-to-rivals trope may be the direction the promotion is looking to pursue for the newly minted WWE superstar.
