Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre might have walked out victorious from his Fastlane match against Sheamus. But he could be in a bit of trouble after using a banned move on-air, that too in 4k!

Fans might remember how WWE recently declared a strange ban on ‘thigh slaps’. McIntyre recently expressed his concerns over the ban as it was a part of his finisher Claymore Kick.

At Fastlane, McIntyre used the slap on the thigh while using the Claymore Kick. The action was caught in 4K and it might lead to the “Scottish Psychopath” being fined. You can see a slow-motion clip below –

Ironically, McIntyre won the emotional match following a Claymore Kick. He will now face WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 37.

Drew McIntyre gave his honest opinion about the ban

The thigh slap has been around for decades. Pro-wrestlers generally use it while throwing kicks to add a sound effect for the fans. The likes of Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Booker T, and CM Punk used to incorporate thigh-slaps into their kicks.

However, recently, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio how WWE is imposing a fine on wrestlers using it. Many from the newer generations of wrestlers consider it silly and embarrassing.

In a recent interview with Forbes, McIntyre was asked his opinion on the matter as he used the slap all the time.

“It’s become so blatant at times, that I think you’ve got to pick and choose your moments,” McIntyre said.

Furthermore, he explained how his slap on the thigh is more than just a mere sound effect.

“When I raise my leg and kick forward, you’ve got a 6’6, 270-pound man jumping and kicking you.”

I’ve got a very strong shoulder, so when I’m throwing that kick and I also put some shoulder behind it, I’m just adding force. So, you see, it’s not really a leg slap for me, it’s just extra force.”
