In just one year, CM Punk has completely changed his own image in the wrestling business. While last year, everyone collectively wanted to see more of the former WWE Champion, this year, very few are on his side. Ever since the AEW All Out backstage brawl, we haven’t heard anything from Punk about returning to AEW or the company approaching Punk.
But things could change now. Just today, Punk shared some Instagram stories that stirred up a little back and forth with another AEW star. But another important thing that the interaction revealed was Punk’s obligations to AEW because of his contract.

CM Punk exposes his AEW contractual obligations through Instagram stories
The AEW star that had a back-and-forth with Punk is The Best Friends’ Danhausen. The wrestler who manages Orange Cassidy and The Best Friends as had comical moments with a lot of the AEW roster. So, it was surprising to see him clap back at Punk.
Instagram stories are not available to view after 24 hours of posting them.
In the first story, Punk captions a photo of a Danhausen T-shirt, “New shirt please purchase“, while this is mild, it came out of nowhere as Punk hasn’t mentioned anything about AEW for a long while.
But the plot thickened when Danhausen reposted Punk’s story with the caption, “Danhausen is the wood paneled BASEMENT of AEW“. But Punk reposted Danhausen’s story quoting, “I don’t know what this means, but I’m obligated to post it.” This confirmed the fan theory about Punk’s initial story.
His first story might be an obligation that Punk had to do due to his AEW contract. But this escalated further. Danhausen reposted Punk’s repost and added a dog with a lawn mower and CM Punk’s GIF. Punk replied to this by saying, “I searched Danhausen in gifs and didn’t find anything. Here is a ghost emoji.”

While Punk may not have the best reputation in the AEW locker room right now, he still has some friends in the company. This interaction between the two wrestlers did come out as more of a banter. But it did reveal that Punk still has some obligations regardless if he makes appearances or wrestles for the company in the future.
