John Cena is definitely a fan favorite, and the numbers are proof of it. There is one more wrestler who might not be as popular as The 16-time World Champion, but he left a distinctive mark on the pro wrestling company. The former WWE superstar who now is a top wrestler in Tony Khan’s promotion is one of the biggest babyfaces that the WWE has ever seen.

The AEW star, in a recent interview, revealed how the Stamford-based company did not consider him as “the guy” despite his success at The Grandest Stage of Them All in 2014.

The former WWE Intercontinental Champion told the fans that after he main evented at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, WWE called him for a meeting.

In the meeting, the management was trying to set up some “other guy” as “the guy” of WWE who would follow The Cenation Leader’s footsteps. When Bryan expressed his desire to be the “next John Cena,” the management snubbed him by saying, “nobody can be John Cena,” as reported by ‘The SportsRush’.

Though this was not the answer he wanted to hear, he did appreciate the brutal honesty of the officials. “I actually appreciated that — that you don’t see me as the guy,” said Bryan.

In the end, he stated, “That’s good for me because (I knew) this is what I have to overcome if I want to be that. I never got there in WWE as far as being the company’s guy.”

WrestleMania XXX win is not Bryan’s top moment in WWE

Bryan’s WrestleMania 30 moment was a big win of the decade and also of his career. From grabbing victory over Triple H in an opening match to defeating Randy Orton and Batista for the gold on the same night of The Showcase of Immortals in 2014, heard one of the largest pops from the WWE Universe.

But to everyone’s surprise, this night may not be the former United States Champion’s favorite moment, despite being one of the biggest nights of his career. He considers his loss to Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35 far better than his win at WrestleMania 30.

Plus, when Brock Lesnar beat Kingston in the same year late, it was the most “demoralized” he had ever felt in his WWE career.
