“I Can’t Blame a Father”: Jim Ross Recalls How Hulk Hogan’s WWE Career Was in Jeopardy for Prioritizing Daughter’s Happiness Over Profession

For weeks, WWE had advertised Hulk Hogan for the 02/25/2003 edition of SmackDown that took place in London, Ontario. It was two days after the No Way Out pay-per-view. Despite being advertised for weeks, the WWE Universe didn’t get to see The Hulkster at Labatt Centre because he didn’t appear for the show.
The reason behind this was he never agreed to appear in the show, as he already had some other commitments made. He was to attend his 14-year-old daughter’s recital a day after the taping. This incident led Hulkamania to garner some heat from WWE as repercussions.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently shed light on this incident and mentioned his stance on this matter.

JR said, “We didn’t communicate extremely well and how do you not communicate well when you’re doing with Hogan? It’s not like he’s an unknown guy. It just didn’t work out that way and that’s unfortunate.”
Around the time, Hogan was already in a feud with Vince McMahon. This move from The Hulkster just added fuel to the fire.
