WWE has been home to many iconic, larger-than-life characters and stars. WWE star turned politician, Matt Morgan, has had a notably brief but exciting WWE career. Known as The Blueprint inside the ring, Morgan debuted in WWE on 30 October 2003. Considering his tall 6ft 8-inch height, Morgan wanted to do something special.
Although he believes in the idea of going with whatever the promotion considers right, the former WWE star couldn’t ignore his genius thoughts.

Morgan ended up explaining his villainous gimmick to Vince McMahon, the CEO of WWE at the time, who seemed to be on board. Although the plans never came to fruition in a recent podcast, the politician recalled his brilliant ideas.
The former WWE star’s inspiration from Rocky 4
Many combat sports athletes seem to be a fan of the Rocky movie series. This is probably because of how relatable it might appear to them. Even Cody Rhodes once connected his life-changing moment with a scene in the Rocky series. However, Morgan’s relationship with the franchise was a bit different.
Morgan wanted to come anew to the WWE screen in a whole new avatar. The villain in Rocky 4, Ivan Drago, was Morgan’s ultimate inspiration to create a similar character in WWE. “I did pitch that to Vince, a long, long time ago, of what ‘The Blueprint’ could be, you know, and essentially was Ivan Drago without it being any Russian-related stuff, meaning just the guy that gets… he’s the giant 2.0,” Morgan explained his idea behind the character’s origin on the Two Man Power Trip podcast.

To stand out from the crowd WWE, the 46-year-old giant had a clear idea back then. “I would have the top trainers. I’d have the top dieticians just like Ivan Drago did if you remember and Rocky 4 his gym versus Rocky’s climbing the mountain and all that cr*p he had to do,” proposed the former WWE star.

The original idea, even though inspired by Rocky 4’s giant villain, was supposed to be supernatural. Morgan wanted McMahon to play the role of Dr. Frankenstein who would operate and create the giant that is The Blueprint: “I told them I’m like you say that I am the blueprint of the perfect athlete, the perfect giant, the Giant 2.0.”
