“I Don’t Know How Many Matches I’ve Left”- The Undertaker Opens Up About The Last Ride

WWE Superstar The Undertaker recently sat down with “The Bump” and shared some thoughts on his career. In this interview, The Undertaker (or Mark Calaway, as he’s known by family and friends) opened up on why he decided to make the documentary series “Undertaker – The Last Ride”.

Mark began the interview by reminiscing on his early days, and how there was no way to maintain a steady connection with the fans, as it is today. The fans, in general, had only a small window to witness their favorite stars in the ring. Because of this difficulty,’The Undertaker’ as a character remained mysterious for more than 2 decades.  The Undertaker had been in the pro wrestling business for over 30 years. Even then, ‘The Last Ride’ would be the first time ‘Mark Calaway’ would be featured as the center, and not his beloved character.

A deep dive into “The Undertaker”, the character

‘The Undertaker’ had been a household name in wrestling since the early 90s. The character had been draped in shadows and mystery for a long time. To date, he has given only 3 long-form interviews, one before he reached the peak of stardom. When asked about the timing of the release of the series, Mark opened up about why he chose to film and release the documentary at this point in his career.

“I don’t know how many matches I have left, we might have to document some of this stuff,” Mark said in the interview, referring to his weakening body. Mark hinted at the fact that he was unable to be the superstar he was in the past. He considered the state of his body, the preparation he did before the matches, and how being in the ring affected him physically. Taking all these factors into consideration, the Superstar decided to document his life, starting from 2017. Initially, there was no plan to make it into a documentary series. Calaway stated that he was merely filming parts of his life to preserve it in the video.

“We didn’t know it was going to be a docu-series. We just started taking the footage, not knowing what was gonna happen.”

Fans of the superstar will surely love the unique perspective the documentary takes. ‘The Last Ride’ promises to be a detailed and entertaining look into Mark Calaway as ‘The Undertaker’.
