“I Don’t Know if It Is a Good Thing” – Cody Rhodes Snubs Ric Flair to Choose Former NWA Heavyweight Champion to Compare Roman Reigns

WrestleMania is around the corner, which means the hype surrounding the event is off the charts. To build up to the event, there’s a ritual of stars appearing in various interviews with media houses across the globe. Interviews mean quirky questions which act as a source of great entertainment for fans. Thus, a fascinating question also came to one of the main attractions of WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes. However, one of his answers might be fun to fans but not Ric Flair.

Cody Rhodes gives a surprising answer to a fascinating question

During an episode of WWE Super Dhamaal, the host quotes the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner, when he said, “I have to finish this story”. In addition, she mentioned how this statement of Rhodes brought back flashbacks from the iconic hard times’ promo. And just after expressing this, she dived into the main question, which was, “Is Roman Reigns the Ric Flair to your Dusty Rhodes?”

Before jumping into The American Nightmare’s answer to this, it’s essential to go into our memories and remember one of the biggest feuds in pro wrestling history. The WWE Universe must be pretty aware of the rivalry between The American Dream and The Nature Boy.

They shared such an intense conflict that one could not think of either of them without thinking of their opponent. However, now, fans may see shades of the rivalry between Cody Rhodes and The Tribal Chief, but the former Intercontinental Champion has a different perspective.

Talking about the Flair-Reigns comparison Rhodes said, “I don’t think he necessarily checks that box, as far as Ric Flair. I’d actually say anything, if I had to look in my dad’s catalog, I’ll go with Harley Race. This is said because very few people are tougher like him but currently nobody than Roman Reigns.”

In his statement, he clearly gave an edge to the former NWA Heavyweight Champion above the 16-time world champion when it came to toughness. Not only did he mention Race but also complimented his rival.

The American Nightmare’s compliment to Reigns

While talking about the legendary Harley Race, Rhodes talked about how the ‘Head of the Table’ possesses similar attributes to him. He also clarified how he isn’t talking about Reigns’ charisma but his sheer toughness. 

Cody Rhodes said, “And I’m talking about sheer toughness. I’m not talking about charisma, charm, or how he is on the microphone. If anything he is like more of Harley Race which I don’t know is a good thing or a bad thing. I’m sure we’ll find out at WrestleMania.”

This comparison of Reigns to Harley seems like a compliment with a slight hint of doubt over the current champion. Rhodes and Reigns are set to define the current era of WWE when they will compete against each other at WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed Universal WWE Championship.
