“I Felt Like a Failure” – Bianca Belair Opens up About Her Struggles With Mental Health Issues

Mental health has been one of the most spoken about subjects during recent times. Many celebrities, athletes, and others are talking about it and creating awareness. From the wrestling industry, WWE Superstar, Bianca Belair, revealed her opinion on maintaining good mental health.
During a conversation, she provided her opinion on signs of positive mental health.
“In my opinion, good mental health is a balance. Being aware of your triggers, things that trigger you, knowing how to stay away from them. Knowing that if there is a trigger, how to manage it, how to cope with it.

“In mental health, I think there’s a misconception that mental health means that you’re just happy all the time and you’re positive and it’s good vibes and nothing bothers you. No, mental health is knowing that there are gonna be stressors in life, there are gonna be triggers in life, but being able to identify them when they happen and knowing how to cope with them.”
Bianca Belair had a hard time in college
Belair has always been open about how her identity affects her work. She revealed that people expect all women within her community to be strong.
In fact, from a young age, everyone expected her to reach heights in life, and she has experienced the pressure of being a powerful woman.

“When I went off to college, and I got so depressed and things started falling apart and I had to come back home. I felt like a failure. I was embarrassed, I was ashamed. Especially, I feel like in this day and age with social media, we always have this need and this want to present ourselves as being strong.”
Finally, she spoke about the importance a support system holds for someone going through mental health issues. For Bianca, her husband and family are the biggest support system.
“My support system is, first and foremost, my husband. And then I have an amazing family, my mom is my best friend.. my daddy and my brother. That’s really my main support system that they’ve always loved on me from the very beginning”
