The Bloodline is one of the most compelling storylines to come out of the WWE in years. It has a tinge of everything one can expect. A familial dispute, a story of betrayal, and ‘The Head of The Table’ standing atop everything. No doubt it has garnered widespread applause from all the quarters.

The surreal impact of Roman Reigns since his association with Paul Heyman is also quite evident. ‘The Wise Man’ has been integral to the growth of ‘The Tribal Chief’ and the stable as a whole. He recently opened up about how this intriguing saga came into being.

Heyman recently sat down with Sports Illustrated for an interview. He discussed how the onset of the global pandemic worked as a blessing in disguise for the whole idea of The Bloodline stable. The veteran manager said, “So, the time was right and it was in the middle of covid. And this is where we had virtual audiences and everyone looked at that as a restriction”.

Heyman said, “The first thing he {Reigns} said was what an opportunity we have to do things differently. And right there I knew we hit gold because we weren’t looking at well there’s no fans live in the arena, we were looking at wow we can actually put the camera right in the ring with us”.

He further explained, “All the things that you are given brilliant opportunities when there’s 20, 30, 40, 50 thousand people in an arena or a stadium. The flip side of that is the intimacy when there’s no one there. And how you can position the camera literally right here to the face. And at the last second of the show turn into the camera and just say {whispering} acknowledge me”.

Truly Heyman was at his vintage best here. Turning what many may consider a hurdle into an opportunity speaks volumes about his capabilities. And the stellar heel work that Reigns has put on since has been extraordinary. He has been absolutely untouchable since he ventured to the bad side. Slowly the family legacy aspect of the storyline came together with The Usos and later Solo Sikoa joining the ranks. But the foundations were exceptionally laid by ‘The Special Counsel’ and his ‘Tribal Chief’ beforehand.

Roman Reigns pulled up his socks as well

Having previously worked with top talents such as Brock Lesnar, Heyman succeeded in unleashing another star. But as was the case with his previous client Lesnar, the performer in question, also has to put in the hard yards. Mere pitting the managerial wits of Heyman with a superstar is no guarantee of success, as we have seen in his previous failed allegiance with former WWE star Curtis Axel.

But Reigns to his credit, stuck to the task and reached his undeniable potential. More than 900+ days at the top as champion of the Stamford-based promotion proves how far he has come.

The addition and then the subsequent betrayal by Sami Zayn was also nothing short of brilliant. Reigns is now up for a mouth-watering clash against ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. And both the champion and challenger came face to face on the recent episode of the blue brand. The goosebump-inducing promo saw some excellent verbal exchange from both sides. A stupendous build-up to their impending clash at ‘The Showcase of Immortals’.

Back when all the sporting events were devoid of live audiences, the two were putting in some of the best works of their careers. And now they are merely reaping the rewards of their work during the tougher times. Nevertheless, all of us have been treated to an absolute masterclass in terms of storytelling.
