The key to staying relevant as a superstar in the WWE universe is to maintain your aura. In order to succeed, superstars must stick to their characters, regardless of the gimmick. Similarly, there are those who maintain their gimmick despite not being in the ring, such as commentators, general managers, and other behind-the-scenes personnel.

One of those people was the legendary Teddy Long. Teddy was the General Manager of SmackDown for some time. He is well known for forcing the superstars to go one-on-one with The Undertaker. He successfully maintained Taker’s hype in SmackDown.

Teddy Long on The Undertaker’s introduction

Among WWE fans, it often joked that Teddy Long has the power to summon the Undertaker. When asked about how he came up with his particular style of introducing superstars, he shared a story.

“One time I was sitting down, and we were talking to Vince. And Vince wasn’t really talking to me, he was talking to someone else. And they went out, and they introduced somebody. Well, Vince stopped them and said ‘No, no. You have to make my stars mean something. So when you introduce them, give them some razzle dazzle.’ And I heard that, and that’s all I needed. I just went and gave that for The Undertaker. I brought that game. That came from me.”
