On the May 6, 2021, episode of ‘The Kurt Angle Show‘, co-host Conrad Thompson asked Kurt about an insight into Vince’s feeling towards XFL’s poor performance. Kurt replied,

“No, you couldn’t tell. He always compartmentalized his work, so he never let XFL get involved in WWE. Never let WWE get involved with the XFL. But when the XFL, when he first started it, he was very excited, and he was talking about it quite a bit. And some of the advantages he would have over the NFL, some ideas he had. And so when the season started continuing on and the ratings were dropping, he never talked about it anymore. He never let it affect his work. He was very professional in WWE. And he was always focused on our product.”

Conrad continued and asked Kurt if he remembered some of the old veterans in WWE who started to spread the rumor of losing money because of XFL’s poor ratings. Angle replied with a resounding yes! He said,

“Yes. There was definitely a concern that when the XFL fell through, WWE or Vince McMahon, lost a lot of money in that project. So, you think about what’s going to happen in the future or the pay-per-view buys — you’re going to get paid as much. If they continue to have strong pay-per-view buys. If you continue to sell out houses, are you going to get paid as much? So it was a concern because I think he lost over a hundred thousand dollars in the XFL that year [2001] “

The Rock Bought XFL from Vince McMahon
