WWE Legend Hulk Hogan can arguably be called one of the first wrestlers to take the company to greater heights. Apart from being a pro wrestler, he also earned fame and recognition from different sectors of the world. While being a wrestler, he also starred in movies.

Hogan’s fame took him to new heights and made him an international superstar. Apart from WWF/WWE, he also wrestled for TNA, NJPW, and WCW. His aura and eccentric charm made him the face of the company in the 80s and earned him a hefty salary as well.

His quick rise on the success ladder in WWE earned him opportunities in Hollywood as well. Speaking with Michael Schiavello in 2010, Hogan revealed the time he received his offer for his role in Rocky 3. He claimed that he had initially thought the offer to be a hoax.

Hogan said, I just seen the first two movies. Oh, my god! Stallone was 150ft tall. In the public’s eyes and this really big wrestler, gorilla monsoon handed me a western union letter. It said, ‘Call Mr. Stallone about you know an appearance in a Rocky movie. And all of a sudden for me to get this Western Union letter, oh! It’s a rib because you know wrestlers are really fun.” He claimed that he thought the letter to be a hoax, because of the wrestler’s habits of playing pranks.

However, he continued that he then went to Japan for several weeks. When he came back, he heard that Stallone’s office had been trying to reach him. The Immortal Hulk Hogan said, came right back to the Allentown TV Tapings again and this time Monsoon says ‘look, this guy’s driving us crazy. You need to call him back.’ And it was another letter from Stallone’s office. “

Hogan continued, “So, when I called him back they said, “We want you to do this part called Thunder Lips, the ultimate male. Can you come to LA? So I went there and got the part. Did it for no money at all.” Hogan’s role in the movie became iconic, and people remembered it for several years.

Did Hulk Hogan really take no money for his role in Rocky III?

The Hulkster starred as a villain in the legendary film Rocky III. His role became an iconic one, and he came more under the limelight. He played the role of ‘Thunderlips’, a fighter Stallone’s Rocky fought. However, in the above video, Hogan claimed he did the movie for no money.

His first acting gig earned him approximately $15,000. Although, after Rocky III, Hogan was fired from WWF, until he later made a comeback and took the company to newer heights.
