John Cena is widely known in the wrestling world as one of the most selfless wrestlers in the wrestling business. One of the biggest examples of this is his work with the NGO, Make-A-Wish, where he holds the World Guinness Record for most wishes accomplished. The NGO basically works to fulfill the wishes of children who have fought a fierce battle against cancer or other such diseases.

Other than that, wrestlers backstage have also praised his leadership and advice. One of the most monumental moments in Cena’s selflessness was the match with Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam, where he lost the WWE Championship. But this former WWE star who was a World Champion at one moment has a story that might make you think otherwise.

While speaking on the latest episode of Talk is Jericho podcast, Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger, opened up about his time while being the Money in the Bank holder. He said, “The night before [Hager’s cash-in on Jericho], I teased it on RAW where I would almost hit Cena with the briefcase. I snuck up on him, and then we had one of his brilliant promo segments. Later, come find out he refused to do the job for me for the world championship, but we won’t talk about that.

Being the only other wrestler to have 16-World Championship reigns, Cena certainly had a tendency to be on top. To add to this, he also was the only thing that kept WWE afloat during its least interesting period, week in and week out. This led to Vince McMahon and the WWE writing and production team relying on the Hollywood star a lot in the 2010s.

But over time, whenever he used to win big matches, fans would call him Big Match Cena. Every time that Cena was involved in a title match or a big main event, the fans would easily guess that the winner was Cena. But seeing him decline or stop another wrestler’s growth in the company is unimaginable.
