Rivalry is a very commonly used term in sports, especially in pro wrestling. We often see heated conflict between fighters who often ended up talking trash about each other inside or outside the ring. We also see the reverse of it at times, when two fighters respect and like each other a lot. But do we often get to see both at the same time? Probably not.

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins have such a rare kind of relationship that obeys both of the abovementioned conditions. Recently, the 2023 Royal Rumble winner spoke about the strange dynamic of his relationship with The Architect during an interview with Robbie Fox on “My Mom’s Basement” podcast.

‘The American nightmare’ has been on a roll since his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 as the mystery opponent of Seth Rollins, whom he defeated. Also, Cody clinched back-to-back victories over Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash and Hell in a Cell. After a hiatus for his torn pectoral muscle injury, the Rhodes-Rollis rivalry was again teased in 2023. But much to everyone’s surprise, Cody declared his utter indifference about facing Rollins again.

During the interview, the Royal Rumble winner reflected on a number of subjects, including his locker room feeling after his return and his relationship with Rollins. The star mentioned he used to feel like an outsider after he returned to the Stamford-based company. Pointing out his chemistry with Seth Rollins, Cody noted, ‘And then I was met with the ultimate individual Seth Rollins, who’s carrying RAW and just so good and for him to not look at me as the enemy but for him to look at me as an asset”

It was difficult for one to believe they didn’t get along with each other after being so perfect together in their few encounters last year. But that seems to be the case According to Cody, ”And Seth and I genuinely, if you ask him the same thing, if he was sitting in this chair he’d tell you, he doesn’t like me, I don’t like Seth. We’re not gonna get along ever. However, the utmost respect for him. And for him to look at me as an asset made me not worry about what anyone else was thinking.”

What is next for both the stars?

Moving ahead, following the terrific win at this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble last month, Cody Rhodes will challenge the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Tribal Chief in the main event of WrestleMania 39. With hot crowd favorite Sami Zayn also in the title picture, there is a possibility of him being added to the title match at WrestleMania in some capacity. However, the American Nightmare is ready to face anything that comes between him and his childhood dream.

Coming back to Rollins, he will be in the Elimination Chamber match for the U. S Championship and a possible match with social media sensation Logan Paul at ‘The Show of Shows’ in April is also a possibility.
