‘If Vince Wants, Sure’ – Riddle Has No Issues Using Only His Last Name as His WWE Ring Name

WWE Superstar Riddle is well known for his charismatic character. The Original Bro holds the RAW Tag Team Championships alongside Randy Orton. Riddle and Randy, together known as RK-BRO, defeated AJ Styles and Omos at SummerSlam 2021. This was Riddle’s first WWE tag team title win in his career.
The Original Bro revealed why WWE took his first name ‘Matt’ and how he reacted to the decision in a recent interview.

Matt Riddle on how WWE shortened his name
Riddle, in the initial stages of his WWE career, used his full name- Matt Riddle. People instantly identified him because of his exploits in the octagon and on the indies. However, WWE took away his first name, and he became ‘Riddle’.
He recently talked to Ariel Helwani on BT Sport and discussed many things about WWE and his life. During the conversation, the host enquired about the shortening of his name.

“I think it’s because they didn’t know they wanted to call me Matt or Matthew. I prefer Matthew, but the commentators were just calling me Matt, and I didn’t mind. So I was like ‘Whatever you can get out but I think they want something that was solid and then they call me one day and they go ‘Hey do you mind if we just call you Riddle, the Original Bro?’ and I was like no [I don’t mind].”
“It is my last name, so it wasn’t much of a change and hey if Vince wants me to change my name, sure. And if it’s not even changing, just taking part of it away is even better,” Riddle added.

Riddle has had the luck to work with some of the game’s legends, including Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and even John Cena. As a result, Riddle has improved drastically in these few years because of the influence of these superstars. The win also cemented RK-BRO’s reign as the new RAW Tag Team Champions.
